"a mundane act of resistance in the face of empire is to love myself unconditionally" is absolutely spot on, especially considering how anti-fatness emerged out of white women's need to differentiate themselves from bigger Black women (loosely citing Fearing the Black Body). Thank you for sharing this piece 🥺 it's beautifully written and incredibly helpful for others still on this journey. Realizing that on the other side of self hatred is the unconditional self-love that the empire taught us to withhold from ourselves is an essential homecoming moment that is not discussed enough.

Literally!! I haven’t read her book yet but the more you discover how nothing exists without the consent of empire, not even the way you feel about yourself and your own body, my mind is blown. Thank you so much <2

This is so beautifully venerable christabel🥺

I have found that it is important to love Oneself first before loving other people or wanting other people to love us.

I'm happy that you've gone back to the basics, afterall you're the only person who gets to spend every minute of your life with yourself.

Your body is beautiful in whatever shape or size it is in, it is the vessel that houses your soul and God was intentional when he placed your beautiful soul in it.

A soft and beautiful essay❤️
